Product Description

Buy Flashforge PLA-CF (Carbon Fiber) filament in Nigeria and Ghana. Get the ease of standard PLA with 1.5x the strength, enhanced rigidity, and a stunning matte finish. Official support from Generative CAD.
Step up to advanced composite manufacturing without the headaches of high-temperature engineering plastics. Flashforge PLA-CF is a high-performance 3D printing filament engineered by infusing standard Polylactic Acid (PLA) with 10% finely chopped carbon fibers. The result is a material that prints as easily as ordinary PLA but delivers a staggering 1.3 to 1.5 times increase in strength and mechanical stiffness. Producing a gorgeous, semi-matte surface finish that naturally hides layer lines, this filament is the ultimate choice for West African designers, engineers, and hobbyists who need rigid, dimensionally accurate, and lightweight structural parts.

Why Choose the Flashforge PLA-CF - 3D Printing Filament?
Standard PLA is fantastic for visual models, but it often lacks the rigidity required for load-bearing mechanical applications. High-end engineering materials (like Nylon or ABS) solve this but require enclosed chambers, toxic fume ventilation, and high-temperature beds. Flashforge PLA-CF bridges this gap flawlessly. It delivers the incredible dimensional stability and structural stiffness of carbon fiber composites while remaining perfectly printable on open-frame, desktop FDM 3D printers at room temperature. Whether you are printing drone frames in Lagos or architectural models in Accra, PLA-CF gives you industrial-grade rigidity with plug-and-play simplicity.

Core Features & Benefits
Enhanced Structural Rigidity: The embedded carbon fibers significantly boost the bending strength and stiffness of your prints, making them ideal for load-bearing brackets and rigid frames.

Premium Matte Finish: The carbon particles diffuse light to create an elegant, semi-matte aesthetic that effortlessly hides FDM layer lines and Z-seams straight off the printer bed.

Exceptional Dimensional Stability: Experience near-zero warping, curling, or shrinkage during cooling. Ideal for printing large, flat geometries or mechanical parts with tight-tolerance interlocking assemblies.

Lightweight Profile: Retains the naturally low density of PLA, allowing you to maximize structural strength without adding unnecessary weight to your designs.

Open-Environment Printing: Does not require a heated enclosure, making it compatible with a massive variety of standard desktop 3D printers.

The Generative CAD (GCAD) Advantage
Achieving reliable results with carbon-infused filaments requires access to uncompromised materials and specialized hardware. As the official Flashforge partner in Nigeria and Ghana, Generative CAD provides direct access to fresh, moisture-free spools of PLA-CF without the risk of counterfeit degradation. Because this material is abrasive, purchasing through GCAD ensures you can rapidly source the mandatory hardened steel nozzles required to print it. We back our materials with localized technical support, helping your team dial in retraction and speed settings for flawless composite printing.

Product Maintenance

Carbon fiber composites behave differently than standard plastics. To ensure machine safety and print quality, adhere to these guidelines:

Hardened Nozzle Required: Chopped carbon fibers act like microscopic sandpaper. Printing this material with a standard brass nozzle will widen the orifice and destroy the nozzle in just a few hours. You must install a hardened steel or ruby-tipped nozzle (0.4mm or 0.6mm).

Pre-Print Drying is Mandatory: The addition of carbon fiber makes this filament highly hygroscopic (moisture-absorbent). Even if freshly unsealed, you must dry the spool in a filament dehydrator or convection oven at 60°C for 5 to 8 hours before use. Wet filament causes extreme stringing, brittle walls, and print failure.

Post-Processing Safety Hazard: If your project requires sanding, drilling, or cutting the final printed model, you must use wet-sanding methods or wear a P100 respirator mask. Inhaling micro-fine carbon fiber dust poses serious respiratory health risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is PLA-CF completely unbreakable?

Answer: No. While PLA-CF is exceptionally stiff and boasts high bending strength, it is inherently more brittle than standard PLA. Under sudden, extreme impact, it will snap or shatter rather than flex and yield. If you need a material that flexes under impact, consider standard PETG.

Question: Can I use this for outdoor applications?

Answer: Because the base polymer is still PLA, it inherits PLA's low glass transition temperature (around 55°C–60°C). It will deform if left in a hot car or under direct, intense summer sunlight. For high-heat outdoor applications, use Flashforge PETG-CF instead.

Question: Why does my print have so many little strings or "hairs"?

Answer: Stringing on carbon fiber filaments is the number one symptom of moisture absorption. Ensure you dry the filament at 60°C for several hours. Additionally, you may need to tune your retraction settings slightly (typically 1mm–2mm distance at 30–50 mm/s speed).
